About

I have worked as a writer, project manager, computational analyst, physicist, and lecturer during a 30-year career. I recently published the general trade book Do The Math! On Growth, Greed, and Strategic Thinking (Sage, 2012) aimed at improving general numeracy, and The House of Words (Tuttle House, 2013) about the adventures of New York state Scrabble champ Suzy Quest and the search for her spy father. Caracolas is a series of blog postings about my ongoing adventures in Spain.

  1. Hey john,
Splendid plan writing a blog. I look forward to your postings. One thing is assured when you a ‘nativo’ in Spain something anecdotal always happens to you. These are gems of experience that others may find humourous, annoying, useful or maybe motivational but never leave anyone disinterested. Good plan batman.

      Hi Terri,

Many thanks for the encouragement. It should be lots of fun, and I am already learning just by doing (especially with all the accents). Belén has already told me that a guiri is one who wears hats on the wrong day — guilty as charged! And, I shall have to interview you soon, the star of El Taxi de Maxi. Besos, Juanito.
