Using cheaper electricity from the 2025 Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Ethiopia plans to reach half a million EVs by 2030, including 100+ EV buses already in the capital Addis Ababa. Ethiopia banned $4 billion/year gas/diesel imports in 2024, increasing 30,000 EVs fourfold. Home charging is ok but roadside charging still lags. EV minibuses are next!
