Falling battery prices make round-the-clock solar power supply viable in India

Solar power plus storage can meet 90% of India’s grid because of lower battery costs (2024 -40%, 2025 -30%), making 24/7 solar power cheaper (LCOE $0.055/kWh). 930 GW untapped solar and 2,560 GWh of battery storage is needed (about 5 GW and 13.5 GWh per 1 GW demand) although an excessive monsoon season can limit use.
