Spain hits first weekday of 100% renewable power on national grid

Spain’s grid operator Red Eléctrica announced that renewable energy sources met 100% of electrical demand for the first time on Wednesday, April 16 (wind 46%, solar 27%, hydro 23%, solar thermal 2%, other renewables 2%). Solar power also reached a record of 20 GW (62% of the grid) 5 days later.
