NexWafe claims ‘transformative’ wafer production tech could compete with China

China leads PV manufacturing with over 80% of global supply, including CZ wafers in a quartz crucible that wastes 50% via sawing (kerf). A new gas-to-wafer epitaxial technology grows silicon crystals via vapour deposition on a crystal substrate with no sawing, 10% kerf, 70µm cells, and less cost. Cheaper perovskite-silicon tandem solar at scale are possible.
