With GM and Ford embracing Tesla’s EV charging technology, here’s what it means for consumers

As of 2024, GM and Ford EVs can refill at 12,000 Tesla chargers in the US. Both will adopt the Telsa format (22kW Type 2 cable) North American Charging Standard instead of CCS. Tesla's 17,000 network is faster, more reliable, and well-located. NACS adapters will be needed. Over 50,000 public CCS points (140,000 plugs) exist but only 7,400 are DCFC.
