Volocopter takes off from the first Italian vertiport

An all-electric crewed VTOL made its maiden flight at Fiumicino airport in Rome, a 5-minute demo run at 40 meters height around a newly designed vertiport. The goal is to connect Fiumicino with the city centre 20 minutes away. The 5,500-square-meter vertiport provides ground operations and battery charging and swapping. Commercial service starts in 2024.
