France announced a ban on short-haul, internal flights under two-and-a-half hours where alternate train routes exist, such as from Paris to Nantes, Lyon, and Bordeaux. Although flights were down almost a half in 2020 because of Covid-19, the measure will further reduce CO2 emissions. Planes emits 77 more CO2 per passenger than trains on these routes.
