| Germany | renewables: grid
In Q1 2020, Germany produced a majority of electricity from renewables (52%), a 7% increase on 2019 Q1. Record February winds and plentiful March sun aided output but the trend may not continue. The increase occurred after the Philippsburg 2 nuclear plant shutdown of late 2019 and brown coal power plants placed on emergency-only standby.
