How your food scraps are going to fuel Toronto's garbage trucks

An existing urban organic-waste collection system will now be used to create biogas to run the very same collection trucks. Food waste will be picked up from household boxes as before, processed into solid waste and gas in an anaerobic digester (much like the body), and used as methane fuel. Local garbage produces 10% of Toronto's GHG emissions.
