Biomass not sustainable, subsidies must stop, say European scientists

EASAC says governments should stop subsidising new biomass plants and power plant conversions, since wood energy is minimal and releases more CO2 than burning coal. Nor is biomass sustainable as burned carbon takes too long to be replaced by new trees. The Dutch are planning 628 biomass plants with €11.4bn, starting with 2 coal conversions.
