After the deadliest fire in the US in a century that killed more than 85 people and destroyed 15,000 homes in and around Paradise, California, the largest American utility, Pacific Gas & Electric Corp, has filed for Chapter 11 reorganization, citing over $15 billion in potential damages. The likely cause was a faulty power line at the time of the fire.
