A UW study on mobile phones, laptops/tablets/desktops, televisions, refrigerators, microwaves, and laundry appliances found that about two thirds are replaced yet still work, discarded because of batteries, new features, or limited repair options. Dangerous e-waste (heavy metals, organic pollutants, acids) is growing (2.3 million tonnes by 2030).
