SAE Renewables world’s first energy company to produce 50 GWh of electricity from tidal power

Operating since 2017, the MeyGen tidal stream array off the north coast of Scotland is the first to generate 50 GWh. With increased reliability, average availability is now 95% for the four 1.5-MW turbines located 20 meters under the waters of the Pentland Firth. The 6-MW array trebled European tidal capacity in 2021 (cf. 17.4 GW wind).
