How a few geothermal plants could solve America’s lithium supply crunch

At the Salton Sea geothermal power stations of southern California, after heat and steam have been removed the concentrated brine contains 30% of dissolved solids. The leftover brine is full of extractable minerals, e.g., manganese, zinc, and a potential supply of lithium for increased electric charge storage up to 10 times current U.S. demand.
