City of Houston surprises: 100% renewable electricity — $65 million in savings in 7 years

Houston will partner with NRG Energy to power all its municipal operations with 100% renewable energy, saving almost $10 million a year. Houston already leads the US in renewable energy with a 50-MW solar farm at Alpine, TX, and will add another dedicated utility-scale plant. The goal is 100% renewable energy by 2025 and carbon neutrality by 2050.
