Trump wants to end $7,500 electric car tax credits, members of Congress move to stop him

Current U.S. federal sales regulations give electric car buyers a tax credit of up to $7,500, available prior to manufacturers selling their 200,000th car and then phased out over the next year. The Trump administration wants to nix the credit, netting $2.5 billion to the U.S. Treasury. GM and Tesla are the only carmakers to reach the 200,000 EV level.
