Green electricity rose 8% in the Netherlands in 2018, mostly from a 40% increase in installed solar panels, although wind turbines still produce more than half. In 2018, 15% of Dutch needs (4.5 million homes) was generated by wind, biomass, solar, and hydro power, but only 6.6% of overall energy use in 2017 was green, still below the 2020 target of 14%.
